Quest for Excellence

Dr. Holcomb loves the idea of owning his own art gallery and describes his motivation as similar to what drives him to excel as a facial plastic surgeon. “You can put yourself in front of a piece of art and contemplate the intricate steps that went into creating it. Just as an art gallery owner is on a never-ending quest to find a great piece of art, a plastic surgeon is always on a quest to achieve the best result for each individual patient,” he explains.

This broad range of cosmetic services enables Dr. Holcomb’s patients to enjoy multi-faceted, customized treatment options within the comfort of his beautiful facility. In fact, many surgical procedures—including brow, face and neck lifts, upper and lower eyelid lifts and facial implants—are performed at his private, AAAHC-accredited surgical center. Dr. Holcomb also routinely performs skin-resurfacing procedures, including Portrait® Plasma Skin Regeneration at his Aesthetic Light and Laser Center, located within the same facility.

ASK DR. HOLCOMB

Q: I AM A 48-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WHO WANTS TO LOOK YEARS YOUNGER. I’M NOT SURE IF I SHOULD UNDERGO A FACELIFT OR PERHAPS SOME OTHER TYPE OF PROCEDURE. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION?

A: Presuming that you are healthy, my recommendation would be based on a careful evaluation of your individual features at this point in your life, YOUR FOREMOST GOALS and your ability to invest time in your recovery. At some point, nearly all patients seeking facial rejuvenation will benefit from a combination of procedures—LIFTING to eliminate skin laxity and sagging, facial implants and/or fillers for youthful VOLUME RESTORATION and SKIN REJUVENATION procedures to reduce sun damage and wrinkles. Early mild skin laxity and volume loss can often be effectively treated with skin rejuvenation procedures (such as laser resurfacing or Portrait Plasma Skin Regeneration) and injectables. More advanced skin laxity and volume loss with sagging, jowling and sunken areas generally require lifting and volume replacement procedures. In my facelift work, I carefully select the length and location of my incisions and precisely reposition deeper tissues to achieve natural lifting of the brows and midface and effective tightening of the jawline and neck. When appropriate, I also treat volume loss with implants (for sunken cheeks, deep tear troughs or a short chin) and/or injectables (terrific for plumping lips and filling deep lines). Skin rejuvenation is also very important and may require procedures such as photorejuvenation, laser treatment or Portrait Plasma Skin Regeneration, a new technology that can help to stimulate collagen production and improve the texture of your skin. I enjoy helping each patient develop an individualized treatment plan that is designed to provide a very natural, enhanced appearance.
