Mid-face Lift
Mid-face lifting is a relatively recent innovation in facial plastic surgery. The procedure is designed to elevate the midface soft tissues and soften the transition area between the check and mouth (melolabial fold) -- often resulting in restoration of a more youthful heart-shaped facial contour.
Compared to traditional facelift procedures, midface lifting more directly addresses the melolabial fold. Some patients that undergo traditional facelift procedures may also benefit from simultaneous midface lifting.
Mid-face lifting may be performed through a more external approach (extended SMAS facelift) or an internal approach using sutures or special fixation devices (Endotine Midface, www.coaptsystems.com).
Alternative mid-face enhancement options include the traditional facelift, filler injections and cheek implants.
